The RI Center for the Book is sponsoring exhibits of leather book bindings, found in Rhode Island collections, during the month of October and the Providence Athenaeum has been asked to participate. Here is a shot from our exhibit:
The event culminates with a lecture by Phoebe S. Bean, Printed Collections Librarian at the RI Historical Society, on October 30th at 2 pm. at the Aldrich House. Her lecture is entitled: Original Skin: A History of Books and Leather in New England and it is free and open to the public.
